Summer Breeze

See the curtains hanging in the window
In the eve on a Friday night
A small light a-shining through the window
Lets me know every thing's all right

Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
~ Seals and Crofts

That's an Orland Park song for me.

It always reminds me of a special point in time -
sitting on the front stoop of our corner home,
looking out over our existence on a summer evening.

It actually did look like summer here today.
High in the 80s with tomorrow at 90!

It was a beautiful even as I strolled round the yard
fertilizing the plants, admiring the hanging baskets
and Calla Lilly that I just planted a day ago
and the thick row of boxwood shrubs that I started
many days ago from little bareroot ArborDay seedlings
and that are finally really growth in this year thick
thanks to all that rain and fertilization,
looking towards a bumper crop of strawberries,
and wait for the Oriental Poppies to give up any day...

It'sanother late night for Jim at the role in the Chicago suburbs.
Last week, he left home on a Wednesday at 6:00 a.m.
and didn't return home until 5:00 a.m. the following day - he worked all
night supervising a project, driving home down the miles of
interstate at 3:00 a.m. arriving home at 5:00 a.m.

Tonight, he won't be home until at least Midnight and then
he has to be up at 5:15 a.m. and get right back up there -
all 160 miles or 2 1/2 hours of driving each way....

Meanwhile, I'm the golden one whostrolled
around the grounds on a summer evening,

and enjoyed the delicious Asian Noodle Salad
that Sarahprepared for our dinner.
Jim hates Chinese food anyway.
