Question by Stew Shim: How significant is stealing to a Navy SEAL? I recognise that any Special Operations Force has the voltage to be stealthy. Are SEALs very heavily based around stealth or are they like Rangers in the feel that stealing is an alternative but not a priority. Do they congratulate themselves on their dexterity above everything else or around other aspect?
SEALs do not sit on aircraft carriers, do some research and experience what you`re talking about before answering_

Well on some operations you require complete stealth and on others you need to show strength and get in with guns blazing. Generally you want stealth. You need to get the cliff on your enemies before they know you`re there. It`s important but not necessarily required.

not at all that`s why all navy seals where very bright colours and have navy seal written all over their clothing. they too have super navy seal parties where they set up as blue colored seals and run really loud super navy music.

Well it depends on the mission. If its a straight action mission, stealth might not be a matter. It might be , jump off the Helo and get out the opposition camp.
Or if you understand the book Lone Survivor, the mission Marcus Luttrel went on, he required to get out a taliban leader, STEALTH WAS A Vast Stack in that mission. So it depends on the operation at hand.
Same goes for Rangers, you are wrong in expression that Stealing is an alternative but not a priority. Once again it depends on the operation. Most Ranger missions do not require stealth, but some missions may.
look up Ranger Reconnaissance.

I can see there are a lot of answers here filled with complete bullshit.
SEALs are known as "shadow warriors" for a reason. Their character of operation focuses on covert & clandestine missions. They do not "hang around aircraft carriers" out at sea all the time, and they trusted as hell don`t walk around advertising that they are Navy SEALs.
To successfully carry out the case of missions they conduct, they absolutley are stealthy when they operate. If you`ve ever seen pictures of them in Afghanistan, you`ll see that they have full beards, long hair, and often wear "rags" or civilian type clothes in rank to go in with locals and not get out.
If they are conducting a reconissance mission (sniper/gathering intelligence, etc), then obviously remaining well concealed is key to being successful.
