Review by poltroon for Pet Pals:Creature physicianRating: I bought this halt at Target, in anxiety: I needed a Mac game to hold my 7 year ancient while on vacation, with no time to do any search or to look for an order. I looked at it skeptically; my daughter begged. I hoped the present seal on the box was a excellent sign.

I reasonably like it.

We played it together for many hours, following the counsel to assist a variety of animals: dogs, cats, a turtle, a fish, an iguana, a rabbit, and yet a tarantula. It`s a excellent learning experience, and it occupied my girl in thoughtful problem solving rather than leaving her frustrated and grumpy. Even though I`m honestly experienced with creature care, I ground it fascinating to act as well. There`s a fair amount of interpretation to do, using real veterinary terms, so it`s a little over her mind on her own. I had to take some of the case notes to her, but I loved it and I bear with but a little more time, she`ll be more intimate with the vocabulary andconfident enough to take it herself. She needs more reading practice, and she`s highly interested in following along.

The plot does a splendid job of being matter-of-fact and professional, asking you to take the 3 most pertinent, professional questions to question, handling injections, rectal temperatures, and stool samples with a minimal of fuss. It will demonstrate the cases with information on the habitual pulse and temperature for that species, then query the physician if a particular reading is high, low, or habitual. The cases seem well chosen to help educate in this field the worry of the several species and to help compare and contrast appropriate care for different animals. We had a hare with a hairball, and we cultured that rabbits cannot vomit, that hairballs are life-threatening, and that rabbits are poor surgical candidates. We removed an abcess from an iguana in minor surgery, which was but the proper measure of `icky` to help get the spirit of the very thing.

We played the back a mac running Mac OS X 10.5.2, without any system glitches. We did find some program bugs when shaving a surgical entrant - on one dog we were told to "shave the abdomen" and no matter how strong we tried, we couldn`t get it to really shave the abdomen. We went forward and scrubbed and injected anyhow. We missed some points, but we were able to continue. So far we`ve put in this area 6 hours of game play time and there`s even a lot to explore.

The program takes in this area 15 minutes to install, but once installed, you don`t want to introduce the CDs to play - something I really appreciate rather than expecting a kid to soubriquet the CDs (or having to read them on trips).

I`ve been looking for excellent games in this age range, and I`ve been disappointed more frequently than not. This one is a winner.
