Heat seal equipment will change depending upon the industry served, and it will change depending upon just what point or items want to be sealed. These factors will see whether the sealer is going to be affixed to a tabletop or whether it is to be foot operated, or a dozen other variables. It will also see exactly how much heat resistance will be required.
Anytime you take a package, its seal is possibly the most obvious potential weak point. Dangers range from mere rotting or contamination, in the type of foods and pharmaceuticals, to more immediate problems. Some materials are potentially explosive. Nearly all are medium to temperature, or to picture to temperature over time. These considerations make sealing such a vital part of packaging.
There are different materials employed for this purpose. Many adhere metal strips to each other using a timed, targeted release of heat. Others employ silicone rubber, whether to adhere the rubber to rubber itself, or to stick it to a slip of metal. It goes without saying that there are variations in the equipment to be victimized as well. Even for a particular application, like shrink film packing, one must determine whether to use L-Bar or I-Bar heat seal equipment.
Many applications will want to be airtight specifically in place to grow and assert a vacancy in the package. Some materials are flammable or, as alluded to earlier, actually explosive should they have contact with oxygen. More typically the job will be mere contamination, but that won`t be so "simple" when it`s an expensive, life-saving pharmaceutical in the package. For these applications, silicone rubber, which is resistant at up to 600 degrees, is the better option.
A foot-operated double-impulse sealer might seem complicated at first glance, but it`s really very simple to operate. One will take a clipr to time the actual sealing so that it will bind, and if one chooses an automatic machine it won`t still be essential to go to this trouble. The double-impulse is pure for industries demanding heavy applications, just as tenacious as they`re not over 24″ wide and 20 mil in thickness.
The most basic form is the unwashed hand sealer. This character is especially useful for thermoplastic materials and poly bags. These and many early machines are portable. Happily, almost all sealers, from supersonic to clam-shell varieties, are also usable as hand sealers. Those more typically taking on large scale process should select the possibly more conventional table-top or stand-alone sealer.
When speed is one`s prime consideration, such as in those industrial applications, continuous band sealing is an excellent option. With it, one can move bags down a conveyor belt at 472″ per minute. The bags can be mounted as one requires, whether vertically or horizontally, depending upon the center and how much space is available. This type uses metal strips which will require but a little warmth to be applied.
On top of this, there is a broad array of insulation blowing machines, from the conveyer belts to turn tables. Nearly every machine comes with, or without, a cutter attached. It goes without saying that the bags themselves are partly of heat sealing equipment.
