MyMusicMix.TV: New Seal 6: Commitment CD Review

New Seal 6: Commitment CD Review
As a long time Seal fan there are not many former major artists (outside of Prince and Beck) that get me as excited about their new music. Seal has consistently been an artist that touches my soul with each and every release. His vocal prowess and rich and touching lyrics are simply awe inspiring at times.

His voice returns in true Seal form with his trademark husky and powerful voice which is really an instrument capable of expressing a full array of emotions. Seal has only released his new CD "Commitment", under the masterful production of David Foster whose touch brings enormous richness to this CD.Here is my review. If I'm Any Closer A strong opener in typical Seal fashion with swirling vocals and a building melody that leads to the very catchy and poignant "If I'm any closer I will be here.to assure you the truth I'm not the just one trying to feel the key" Grandiose beginner!8 outta 10The Weight of My MistakesNow this is getting really good! Seal's haunting voice over a real Kiss From A Rose background leads to a fierce beat with great lyrics. A great upbeat song told in a report like manner that works rather well. These two opening songs with contemplative lyrics and strong choruses are excellent! Loving it! The ending reminds me of a Michelle Branch song.interesting8 outta 10SilenceOnce again just Seal's beautiful voice over soothing sounds and into a slow tempo song. A flashlight to his lover he sings "Silence.how can it be any louder when your gone" with an incredible intensity. He is really feeling this one and his layered vox are really well set out. Lavish production featured on this one.8 outta 10Best of MeFrom my first listen I heard a double background beat accompanying the main beat and it only bothers me its not there! Ha! This one just feels like a filler until he gets to the chorus. Sounds like it could have well been a Seal IV outtake. Enjoyable enough but rather simple. 5 outta 10All For LoveAnother filler track that is too middle of the route for me. 5 outta 10I Know What You DidA cool track with a slow repetitive piano chord and interesting lyrics. This will be a grower for sure. Can't expect to see this one live. Just Seal and the piano.7 outta 10The Way I LieThis could have been on Human Beings and that's a big thing have I know that CD! Love the reverb/echo they put on his part which helps produce a cool vibe. When he sings "darling you." and "I say YOU!" its simply too cool! 8 outta 10SecretsWhen I first heard this one I was rather underwhelmed. It seemed like a Soul rehash and that CD was not one of my favorites. However, upon repeated listening this is very good song. I woke up with it in my mind a total of times which is ever a full sign. It is a real sweet song and when you remember that he wrote this for his beautiful wife that's even cooler. I'm sure we will see this at many weddings. 8 outta 10You Get MeMy first idea was Peter Gabriel!? The song kinda sounds like him. Kinda. Its a lay that is somewhat of a continuation to Secret. A bit cheesy and a filler.4 outta 10Letting GoThe song starts with a Spanish guitar which is a nice touch and Seal sings-songs his way through the total course and it works nicely. "We'll see what this passion can do". Another track somewhat reminiscent of Human Beings. Very nice! 7 outta 10Big TimeA punchy closing track where he gets back in contrast with the opening tracks. He bounces between themes singing "We'll be but fine.this is the big time!" The orchestra is a nice effect to assist with the songs build to allow Seal to showcase the hallmarks of his distinctive vocal style. A nice enough closing track.7 outta 10Overall 7.5 outta 10
